Many people have been relying on unemployment to help them get through rough times as job opportunities have dried up, leaving unemployment as many people’s last recourse.
But, even that may no longer be available to the people of Indiana, as it was recently revealed that Indiana Unemployment was just as broke as everyone else. Lawmakers in the state could still be the people’s saving grace, but they have yet to solve this problem. Many people are trying to learn more about the situation by going straight to the online source, www.in.gov/dwd.
The business community is frustrated by the situation as well, particularly given that in an effort to increase the unemployment fund, businesses may have to pay even more. The Governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels has responded to the situation by stating the unfortunate fact that something in how (and how much) benefits are distributed.
Some are hopeful in regards to the future of Indiana Unemployment. The commissioner of Indiana’s workforce development, Mark Everson, said that he believed the fund could be back on track within the next ten years, if lawmakers take the needed steps to fix it. Whether they will find the needed course of action is unknown.
The website of www.in.gov/dwd is home to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. It has seen a fantastic increase in traffic since news of the bankruptcy broke. So far, but, it has stood up to the traffic and remains available to visitors hoping to learn more about the situation.
