Actor Charlie Sheen was arrested by Aspen police today on felony domestic violence charges.

Police were summoned by a 9-1-1 call to a home at 320 West Hallam St. at about 8:30 a.m..

Sheen posted an ,500 bond and was released from jail at about 7 p.m. after speaking with a county judge, Aspen police said this evening.

Police aren’t identifying the alleged victim because department policy forbids identifying potential domestic abuse victims.

Booked into the county lockup under his real name, Carlos Irwin Estevez, Sheen was arrested on charges of felony second-degree assault, felony menacing and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department. His hometown was listed as Encino, Calif.

His first court appearance is schedule for Feb. 8.

Sheen’s publicist Stan Rosenfield released a statement: “It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.”

Sheen married 29-year old real estate investor and actress Brooke Mueller last year and she gave birth to twins, Max and Bob, in March.

The five-bedroom home where Sheen was arrested is for sale for .45 million, owned by an Carbondale investment company, according to real estate records.

The 44-year-ancient actor is the star of the CBS show “Two and a Half Men” and a prolific movie actor whose credits include “Platoon,” “Wall Street” and “Major League.” He is a commercial spokesman for Hanes Underwear, sometimes opposite basketball legend Michael Jordan.

His relationships have been tabloid fodder before, including a bitter divorce and custody battle with actress Denise Richards in 2006.

In 1990, he was living with actress Kelly Preston, now the wife of John Travolta, when he accidentally shot in her in the arm in their apartment. The wound needed only a few stitches. The relationship finished soon after.

Goodnight America, and may you have sweet dreams.  Dream about how you’ve forgotten Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  May your minds rest at ease as flags blow in the breeze.  Can we now get on with our lives forgetting why he died.  Go ahead and sleep while freedom barely sings, we all owe so much to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

You may wonder why I say that, and I’ll tell you that it’s because it’s right.  We have forgotten.  We bicker and fight as if what we’re fighting for is what’s truly vital.  We scramble and scrape over our so called gun rights.  Who gave you the right to take another person’s life?  Talking heads and so called heirs to the legend of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. claim to know what we would have championed next.  They claim that he would’ve supported wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  They claim Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would have celebrated interracial marriage and dating because of the phrase “small black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers”.  But did he say little black boys and little white girls or vice versa?  No he didn’t!  So how can you know unless you knew him?

We can’t.  Therefore we have to look past the words and into the meaning of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was not a legend, he was not a myth, he was not perfect.  He was flawed as we all are but he made the best of his flaws.  He studied and worked hard.  He was an brilliant orator, thinker, debater, writer, etc.  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is an brilliant example for us to follow but not idolize.  We should be looking to his words and foundations, not as a ceiling above which we can go no higher.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted excellence of himself, his family, and his people, his Nation and this world.  So as you go to sleep tonight try NOT to forget Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Keep his teachings in your heart, in your minds, in your actions.  Let the exterior become unimportant and make your decisions based on what a person shows you is his or her character.  As you dream, dream of a day when we no longer need, to legislate equality, dream of a day when the walls that separate us come down, dream of a day when the best of us shines through before the worst rears its head.  On that day is when we will have realized the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Remember: the world will only change for the better when we stop thinking nothing we do matters and start thinking, everything we do matters.
